Capulet cruises home
The successful association between trainers Tony & Calvin McEvoy and the MyRacing Syndications continued with Capulet winning at Wangaratta on Tuesday, October 8.
Capulet scored her third win, with eight placings, from just 15 starts in the Your Everyday Gourmet Benchmark 58 Handicap (1400m).
The four-year-old mare brought up a training double for the McEvoys as they had won the preceding event with Following Sea.
Apprentice Sarah Field gave Capulet a beautiful run and the mare looked the winner a long way from home.
Field was able to settle the mare a clear third behind some excellent speed in the run to the home turn.
Approaching the 400-metre mark, Field eased Capulet to the outside and she sprinted quickly.
At the post, Capulet ($3.60 fav) had four lengths to spare from Copperfield ($5) with Bellman ($41), a head away third.
Stable foreman Finn McCarthy said Capulet was improving with racing.
“Capulet had improved a lot from her first up fourth at Warrnambool,” McCarthy said.
“Sarah gave her a terrific ride today and she was very impressive.
“Capulet is a pretty easy-going mare at home.
“It was great to get a win again for MyRacing.
“Sarah got a great trail into it today and put them away.
“She does a lot of work for us so it was great that she can get a reward for it.”
Winning jockey Sarah Field said Capulet could keep winning.
“Capulet was awesome today,” Field said.
“She stepped cleanly and there was a little bit of speed.
“I took my time and got a nice spot in behind the leaders.
“Pushed the button when I wanted to, and it was an easy win.
“Capulet has come on a lot from her first up run, and I hope she goes on with it.”
